Ashley Christensen, a James Beard award-winner, is the chef and owner of Poole’s Diner, Beasley’s Chicken + Honey, Chuck’s, Fox Liquor Bar, Death & Taxes and Bridge Club in downtown Raleigh. Ashley’s cooking—hinged on her philosophy of bright, fresh flavors and locally grown, seasonal ingredients—has garnered local and national acclaim.

Presented in part by The Country Bookshop. Start your weekend with a Poole’s Diner-inspired event, featuring reimagined Southern comfort food with NC craft beer and whiskey.

Q&A with Ashley and Cookbook Signing
In this interactive session, Chef Christensen will answer your questions and share the secrets behind her restaurant empire. She’ll also be signing copies of her new cookbook, “Poole’s: Recipes and Stories from a Modern Diner.”

Glass Blowing Session and Whiskey Tasting
Explore the fascinating world of glass blowing with Colin O’Reilly of Terrane Glass Designs, whose designs were named an Overall Winner in Garden & Gun's 2016 Made in the South Awards. Enjoy a whiskey tasting from a well-known North Carolina distillery.

Katie Button, a James Beard award nominee, is the executive chef and co-owner of Cúrate Tapas Bar and Nightbell in Asheville. Named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs, Katie honed her craft in the kitchens of some of the world’s finest culinarians, most notably Ferran Adria and Jose Andres. She recently released her first cookbook, “Cúrate: Authentic Spanish Food from an American Kitchen,” celebrating her love of Spain and Southern heritage.
